Swim News – 8-27-17

The swim team practiced really hard this week in preparation for our first meet on Tuesday 8/29 against Montverde Academy and East Ridge High School. This past Friday everyone participated in a practice meet. It was fun diving off the blocks and racing against each other.

We also announced two “co-captains” to help Mrs. Nielsen and Mrs. Caporaso with our dryland activities. A big congratulations to Caleb Liljeros and Charlie Caporaso. They will be working with our team captains to make sure our swimmers stay motivated and use good form.

The following article was written by one of our other Swim Team Captains: Emma Caporaso.

When I first enrolled as a Circle student, it was my first time going to a “real school”. I was very nervous, but open to new experiences. I had previously been interested in swim, and when I heard Circle had a swim team, I thought: why not, I’ll give it a shot. I’m so very glad I did. When I first showed up to practice, I was immediately welcomed by coaches and fellow swimmers/students. Throughout the year, I grew closer to the swimmers, the coaches, and God. This is now my third year on the CCS swim team, and my experience has been nothing short of amazing. The sport of swimming has taught me so much. I’ve learned the importance of hard yet careful and persistent work, self- discipline, giving 100%, and so much more. Additionally, the wonderful coaches, Coach Stone, Coach Nielsen, and Coach Caporaso, have pushed us with caring hearts to discover just what we are capable of, while reminding us and emphasizing that all things are possible through Christ.

This team is family. I have made some of the best friends on this team. It’s refreshing to come from non-Christian based teams to a team who does everything knowing Christ and putting Him as their foundation.

I encourage you all to come out and support the swim team at meets and see just how wonderful this team is. Maybe you, too, will want to be a part of the family!
