Legacy Principles Promise #6

When I take time to identify, understand, and live in the areas of my strengths and giftedness, I will experience personal fulfillment and satisfaction.

Eph. 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

I find that most people have a minimal awareness of themselves – how they behave, the thoughts and feelings that drive their behavior, the effects their actions have on others, and ultimately the misery their behavior creates in their own lives.

Most of us live our entire life without truly understanding ourselves. We may realize that sometimes we talk too much, advise too quickly, get too angry, or fail to do what we have promised. On a thoughtful, introspective day, we may admit to ourselves that sometimes we feel smug over a friend’s plight or that we value looks and money over integrity and kindness but we rarely allow ourselves to go much beyond these realizations.

If a crisis comes along – a mate leaves, we lose our job, we can’t seem to get along with someone, a child strays far from the path we expected him to follow, we may take the time to look at our behaviors. Once the crisis is past, however, we become lazy or we get so caught up in the process of living that we fail to continue to explore who we are and how our actions affect every relationship we have.

One author wisely tells us, “A life not examined is like an unopened letter,” and centuries ago Plato wrote, “The unexamined life is not worth living.”

If you think about it, coming to an understanding of yourself – why you obsess on certain thoughts, why you feel a particular way when someone else in the same situation feels an entirely different way, why you behave as you do – should be one of your most important tasks in life. Yet few take up the challenge.

I invite you to take up the challenge and come with me on an introspective journey where you will come to know yourself as never before or as Paul says in Ephesians 5:14, “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

This season in Legacy Principles I am excited to share the light of God’s truth and His word over the next nine months so you can be empowered to live like never before.

Dinner Club and the Mentoring Groups will focus on becoming the woman that God has called you to be. Do you want to live with no direction or passion? I don’t think so. Do not wait for a crisis to happen in your life before you take time to discover what is truly in your heart. Make your personal growth this year to be about you. You will look at yourself with new excitement and energy.

Today is the day to begin maybe a new story for your life. A story of a woman who loved her God, who believed and lived according to the truth she learned, and passionately desired to influence others.

I trust you have enjoyed just a few of the Legacy Principles that have so deeply become a part of my life. Live today with the truths of these principles and you will have an awesome story to tell.

Have an AWESOME week!!
