Circle Theatre Company opened its second show of the season, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, on Friday, December 2nd at the Orlando Repertory Black Box Theatre. With a cast of fifty-one Circle Theatre Kids and Circle Theatre Company students, Circle Theatre history was made when the entire weekend of shows sold out prior to opening. CCS Junior Lilli Deans stars as Grace Bradley in this hilarious comedy adapted from the best selling Young Adult book about a couple struggling to put on a Christmas pageant when faced with seemingly insurmountable problems. Chandler Talkington Fletcher plays Grace’s husband, Bob, and the family is completed with their son, Charlie (played by Colin Rhoads), and daughter Beth (Circle Sophomore Amanda Townes, who serves as the story’s narrator). Other featured cast members include D.J. Hill (Ralph Herdman), Bella Lamb (Imogene Herdman), Jack Whitley (Leroy Herdman), Gianna Kistner (Mollie Herdman), Jake Hickok (Claude Herdman), and Emma Grace Lucas (Gladys Herdman). Memorable roles are also played by Johanna Brown (Mrs. McCarthy), Emma Thacker (Mrs. Armstrong), and Brynn Creasman (Mrs. Slocum), who hilariously portray the gossiping “church ladies.”
Under the direction of Linda Novak, this group of 4th -12th grade actors brings the audience one of the most heartwarming stories ever to hit the Circle Theatre stage. Continuing next weekend, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will have five more performances: Friday, December 9th at 2:30 & 7:30pm, Saturday, December 10th at 2:30 & 7:30pm, and Sunday, December 11th at 2:30pm. All shows are currently SOLD OUT, but waiting lists are taken at the door, and tickets often become available.
Circle will continue its sixteenth season February 3-5, 2017 with the popular musical Give My Regards to Broadway, performed by Circle Theatre Company at The Metro Commons. Tickets now available at circletheatrecompany.com.
