MS Soccer Season Ends

This week our Middle School Soccer Team took their 5-5 record into a semi-final playoff game against St. Luke’s in front of our largest audience of the season. This game felt intense even before kick-off, and you could sense that our players were ready to give it their all.

This was a tough match from the onset as our strong defense led by Jackson, Mary and Tim was tested early and often by the St. Luke’s forward line. Our keeper Cade was extremely sharp throughout the match, and it wasn’t until late in the first half that St. Luke’s broke through for a 1-0 lead. The Centurions took the pitch to start the 2nd half looking for the equalizer, but a couple of unfortunate fouls led to two successful PKs for St. Luke’s, putting them up by 3-0 with just under 15 minutes to go. To their credit, our team was undaunted, picked up the pace and cheered each other on in the waning moments of the game. They were rewarded for their perseverance when Jackson scored off of a brilliantly-curved corner kick with just under 10 minutes to play. Our Centurions continued to press hard all the way until the final whistle, eventually losing the game 1-3, but holding their heads high nonetheless.

We’ve had a great soccer season cheering on our Centurions! A special thank-you to Coach John Lauretta for investing in our players, and an enthusiastic congratulations to our team for making it to the semi-finals!
