MS Soccer-9-3-17

If Week #1 of Middle School Soccer is any indication of the season to come, buckle up, because this is going to be exciting!

Coach John Lauretta has assembled a dynamic team of players from last season, plus some fresh talent that is already gelling well together. The Centurions took the pitch for the first time on Tuesday afternoon against Geneva, and after taking a bit of time to find their feet and their teammates, our players took control of the match and didn’t let up.  Unfortunately, they don’t give us enough space to write about all of the heroics and amazing shots witnessed, but suffice it to say, it was a great start for the team. Aided by solid defensive play from the likes of Alexis, keepers Cade and Will were rarely contested during the match. On offense,  Kelly (2), Jackson, Joseph, Ben, Tim and Abby all found the back of the net for a 7-0 win to start the season. Go Centurions!

The team’s 2nd game on Thursday against ICS was a bit more of a challenge, but everyone already has September 26th circled when we’ll face off against them again. One standout in this match was Hector, who won a number of contested balls and kept the Centurions in the game defensively. In the end, our team lost 0-3, but held their heads high having split the first two games of the season. Our team will suit up this coming Tuesday against Kingsway where they plan to improve their record to 2-1.  All of our Middle School games are being held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, so come out an join us in cheering on our Centurions!
