Golf Teams Advance to State Championship

Boys 1A Region 4 Champions

The Boys Regional Tournament took place at Falcons Fire Golf Club, and the Boys continued their impressive scoring run.  The team total of 10 under par 278, was the best team score posted in the State, so the team will enter the State Tournament as the #1 seed.  Canon Claycomb equaled his one-week old school record of 8 under par as he finished with a score of 64.  He was joined in the under par scoring by Eugene Hong who shot a score of 5 under par 67. The impressive scoring continued with Daniel Core 73, Johnny Wright 74, and Evan Sun 76.

The team’s two week score of 24 under par in the first 2 steps of the State Series is one of the most impressive starts of any team, in any division, in any year.  Mission Inn’s El Campeon course has proven to be the toughest scoring test each season, but the team feels confident they have put the proper work going into this week’s tournament.

Girls 1A Region 4 Runnerup

The Girls team hosted the Regional Tournament at North Shore Golf Club and had an impressive day of team scoring of 7 over par 295, to finish runner up to The First Academy’s 1 under par 287.  Both teams will advance to the State Tournament, with TFA seeded 1st and Circle seeded 3rd in the 16 team field.

All 5 girls posted scores in the 70’s as the team showed its depth.  The individual scores were Rachel Silverman 72, Sydney Hoskins 73, Faith Silverman 74, Alex Crafton 76, and Sarah Scott 77.  This depth of scoring will be needed as they challenge the other State qualifying teams and the Los Calinas course.
