Circle School of the Arts performance students are excited to present this special event for you and your family.  You will be entertained with the finest in scenes, songs, and instrumental music.

Here’s a highlight of the night’s line-up!

A choral ensemble made up of our vocal track students will start the evening with Come Christians Join to Sing and Immortal Invisible.  Have you ever heard an electric bass solo?  Then you will not want to miss our instrumental music students perform selections from various genres.  Throw in a scene from Pygmalion presented by our theatre track students and various musical numbers including a Disney medley, sure to delight you, to a solo performance from one of our youngest theatre track students.  And what Arts Night wouldn’t be complete without a little “class” violin solo!

Boys Tennis

Circle tennis got off to a great start in district play with wins against Foundation Academy and Montverde Academy.  The girls team swept both opponents with 7-0 wins.  The Circle guys won 7-0 against Foundations and pulled out a 4-3 win against Montverde, posting wins from Drew Dickens, Jordan Brown, and Adam Fontana.  Drew and Jordan also won their doubles match.

The team’s first loss of the season came at the hands of a talented Father Lopez team.  The guys lost a close match 3-4, with wins coming from Drew Dickens, Jordan Brown, and Drew and Jordan’s doubles team.  The girls team also lost a tough match 3-4, with their wins coming from  Dana Taylor, Faith Adams, and Katherine and Dana Taylor doubles team.

This week, the team plays away on Tuesday at home vs Eastridge and away on Thursday vs Pine Ridge HS in Deltona.  Both matches begin at 4:00pm

Circle is excited to announce plans to broaden our arts offerings for students in grades 4th through 6th beginning with 2012-13 school year.  Come out to the EXPO this weekend to learn about how to engage your young, artistic child in music, theatre, and the visual arts.  The new offerings have been designed to take a lower elementary student through the middle school years in preparation for continuing their passion through the high school years either through Circle arts electives or entry into Circle School of the Arts tracks.

The Hillsdale College High School Study-Abroad Program provides a unique opportunity for select high school students to participate in a two-week course taught in Europe during the summer. Hillsdale’s distinguished faculty in the fields of English, history, and classics will teach the classes. Each course gives students the opportunity to earn three undergraduate credits while traveling to some of the oldest and most historically rich places in the world.

Students, if you are members of the Class of 2012, 2013, or 2014 you have the opportunity to apply to NIAHD Pre-Collegiate Summer Program in Early American History. This is an outstanding academic summer program in which students earn four hours of college credit participating in an in-depth summer study.

This summer there will be two three-week sessions: June 24-July 14 and July 15-August 4, 2012. Students will have a choice of taking one of two courses in either session: HIS 216: American History from Jamestown through the American Revolution and HIS 201: American History from the American Revolution through the Civil War.

William and Mary is seeking highly motivated students who have demonstrated a commitment to learning, curiosity about the past, excellent analytical ability, good writing skills, and the potential to thrive in a competitive, structured environment.

Dual Enrollment admission counselors sent out a reminder to all DE students that if their college and high school do not have the same spring break, it is not permissible for them to miss class. Just so everyone is on the same page, DE students will not be excused for missing class due to spring break. If students choose to miss class, they are responsible for whatever work they miss and will face any consequence of missing assignments, quizzes, etc. that are given in class on those days. They are also responsible for whatever deadlines occur during the week of the college and high school’s spring break.

This is the week that candy, flower, and card sales go crazy.  It is a marketer’s dream come true.  Everyone wants to show someone how much they are loved.  But in a world where advertising seems to have a stronger influence than reality, I sometimes wonder if we are doing what we do because we really mean it or because we have been conditioned to think a certain way.

For several weeks I have been reading and thinking about love and marriage in preparation for the upcoming couples dinner club event on Friday night.  I have been reminded again that there is a huge difference between romance and intimacy.  One writer noted, “Love can live without intimacy, but that love won’t grow and deepen without the strength and glue that come from intimacy.”

Wow!  In a world where the tabloids at the grocery checkout keep score on the latest in love and outta love couples, I think we should take a closer look at that thought.  Don’t get me wrong, I love romance (and all the stuff that can’t be mentioned here) but I do not want to settle for just the juicy stuff that seems to dominate the headlines.  I want more.  I want that plus deep, intimate relationship, that lasts a lifetime.  How about you?

This week, while you are planning a candle light dinner or ordering roses, make sure you are not simply settling for the trappings that look like love.  Make sure you are fully engaged to cultivate intimacy at the deepest level.

By the way, if you have not already made plans for Friday night, consider joining us at Dinner Club for an awesome meal, candles, and a conversation that I guarantee will challenge and encourage your pursuit of intimacy with your spouse.

Circle is excited to announce that feature film producer David Nixon will be the guest speaker at the spring parent meeting on Tuesday, March 6, 7:00-8:30pm at Metro Church.  David’s story will inspire you and your children as he shares his desire and passion to change culture through movies.  This event is open to parents and children ages 11 and up.  You will not want to miss this evening.

Originally from Sydney, Australia, David Nixon has been producing and directing commercials and feature films for the past 25 years.

His credits include feature films Making Waves, Fireproof, Facing the Giants, Letters to God and national commercials for SUBWAY® Restaurants, Nickelodeon, and the Walt Disney World Resorts. David is currently in production on Renee, the story behind the internet phenomenon “To Write Love on Her Arms”. This feature film stars Kat Denning of 2 Broke Girls and Thor, Chad Michael Murray of One Tree Hill, Rupert Friend of Pride and Prejudice, Mark Saul of Social Network, and Corbin Blue of High School Musical.

David’s success is due to his ability to create classic, elegant images that evoke emotion and induce heartfelt response.
