Chemistry 2 Honors is a challenging extension of the Chemistry I Honors course. Covering the state standards for Honors Chemistry 2, this course focuses on the topics in the Apologia Chemistry I textbook that are not covered or lightly covered in the first year, prerequisite Chemistry course as well as instructor provided extensions and supplements. Course topics include: acid/base chemistry, water chemistry, the gas laws, equilibrium, chemical kinetics, and electrochemistry. There will also be an extensive introduction to organic chemistry and biochemistry. There will be a laboratory component in addition to a writing component. This is an ideal course for juniors or seniors who meet the prerequisite, particularly those who would like to pursue a STEM related major in college. Weekly use of Circle’s eLearning Campus (online classroom component) will be required.
Prerequisites: Algebra 2 and a final grade of A in CCS Honors Chemistry I. *Non-CCS Honors Chemistry I credit may be accepted upon review. Please contact Guidance for credit review.
