American History Honors is a challenging course in which US (American) History Honors students will study the scope of American History from Pre-Columbian societies to today’s Post-Cold War world. Emphasis will be on identifying the key events and people from American history and understanding their impact on our past, present, and future as a nation, people and culture. Primary and secondary source reading will be required, as will critical reviews of assigned readings. Map skills as applied to historical data will be stressed as well as critical reading and understanding of the cause-effect nature of history. Students will also be required to share about their discoveries as they journey along the timeline of American history. This course is recommended before American Government and Economics. Weekly use of Circle’s eLearning Campus (online classroom component) will be required.
