Bowling News – 10-1-17

Saturday, September 23, Circle traveled to Lake Wales, Florida to play in the 11th Annual Kegal High School Challenge at Kegal Training Center. This was the Girl’s team 4th year to this Challenge which show cases some of the best teams in the State of Florida to see where everybody is standing during the middle of the season.

In the 1st game of ten pin Circle struggled getting pass the early game jitters and finished with an 826, which placed Circle in 3rd place. In the 2nd game of ten pin Circle found a better groove and shot 922, which keep Circle in 3rd place.

Teams moved to Baker Format. In the 1st game of Baker Circle shot 156 keeping them in 3rd place. In the 2nd game of Baker Circle shot 170 remaining in 3rd place. In the 3rd game of Baker Circle shot a 164 and remained in 3rd place. In the 4th game of Baker Circle shot their best game 181 to keep Circle solidly in 3rd place. In the 5th game of Baker Circle shot 175. Circle finished the tournament with a total score of 2594 and finished in 3rd place behind last year’s State Champion Oviedo and Runner up Lincoln Park.

Circle’s Ainsley Chambers led the team with a series of 389 [194.5] avg.

Circle’s Boys team also traveled to Kegal for the 2nd year. In the 1st game of ten pin Circle shot 924 which was 7th place. In the 2nd game of ten pin Circle shot 1057 and moved to 4th place. In the 1st Baker game Circle shot 193 and remained in 4th place. In the 2nd game of Baker Circle shot 201 and remained in 4th place. In the 3rd game of Baker Circle shot 157 and remained in 4th place. In the 4th game of Baker Circle shot 172 and remained in 4th place. In the 5th game of Baker Circle shot 169. Circle finished the tournament with a total score of 2873 and finished in 4th place and improvement from 8th place in 2016.

Douglas Patek [2019] shot a career high game of 278 and won the Boys Individual with a 479 series.

In the 1st game of ten pin Circle’s Ryan Bare [2018] had a 202, Zack Kimmel [2020] had a 189 and Tyler Humphreys [2020] had a 144 as Circle won 870-833. In the 2nd game of ten pin Ryan Bare had a 226, Gabriel Perez [2020] had a 198, Douglas Patek [2019] had a 189 and Brandon Phelps [2018] had a 175 as Circle won 959-851. In the 3rd game of ten pin Circle’s Zack Kimmel had a 202 and Gabriel Perez had a 181 as Circle won 851-815. Circle won the match 2680-2499.

In the 1st game of ten pin Circle’s Brandon Phelps [2018] shot 224, Zack Kimmel [2020] had a 206, Douglas Patek [2019] had a 180 and Gabriel Perez [2020] had a 167 as Circle won 953-860. In the 2nd game of ten pin Ryan Bare [2018] had a 238, Zack Kimmel had a 189, Brandon Phelps had a 185 and Tyler Humphreys [2020] had a 181 as Trinity won 965-925. In the 3rd game of ten pin Circle’s Brandon Phelps had a 228 and Ryan Bare had a 201 as Circle won 881-861. Circle won the match with a season high 2759-2686.

Thursday, Circle played host to Winter Park and Windermere High at Colonial Lanes. In the 1st game of ten pin Circle’s Ryan Bare [2018] shot 198, Gabriel Perez [2020] had a 186, William Pawlack [2018] had a 179 and Tyler Humphreys [2020] had a 170 as Circle shot 910, Winter Park shot 851 and Windermere shot 612. In the 2nd game of ten pin Ryan Bare had a 203, Douglas Patek [2019] had a 199 and Zack Kimmel [2020] had a 193 as Circle shot 930, Winter Park shot 795 and Windermere shot 731. In the 3rd game of ten pin Circle’s Gabriel Perez had a 207, Ryan Bare shot 194, Zack Kimmel shot 191 as Circle shot 945, Winter Park shot 831 and Windermere shot 661. Circle won the match against Winter Park 2785-2477 and Windermere 2785-2004. Winter Park won against Windermere 2477-2004.

In the 1st game of Baker Format, Circle’s Blake Barbee [2020] had 2-spares, Patrick Simmonds [2018], Stephanie Long [2021] and Mason Hilley [2022] each had a spare as Circle shot 133, Windermere shot 117 and Winter Park shot 100. 2nd game of Baker Circle’s Trent Tanchin [2020], Michael Bitterman [2018] and Blake each had a spare as Windermere shot 97, Circle shot 87 and Winter Park shot 84. 3rd game of Baker Circle’s Patrick and Blake each had 2-spares, Stephanie and Mason each had a spare as Winter Park shot 129, Windermere shot 119 and Circle shot 118. 4th game of Baker Circle’s Michael Bitterman had the lone spare as Windermere shot 118, Circle shot 92 and Winter Park shot 91. 5th game of Baker Circle’s Trent had a strike, Shane McElrath [2021] and Blake each had a spare as Circle shot 106, Windermere shot 99 and Winter Park shot 90. Windermere won the match against Circle 3-2 and against Winter Park 4-1. Circle won the match against Winter Park 4-1. Circle’s JV season record is 4-3
