Black History Month Scholarship Contests

Art Contest (K-3rd grade students)

Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott’s Black History Month Art Contest is open to all K-3 students in the state of Florida. Winner receives a prize from Governor Rick Scott in Tallahassee.

Deadline: 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, March 2, 2018

Essay Contest (4-12th grade students)

Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott’s Black History Month Essay Contest will award three winners will be selected: one elementary school student (grades 4-5), one middle school student (grades 6-8), and one high school student (grades 9-12). The prize is a 4-Year Florida Prepaid College Plan scholarship provided by Florida Prepaid College Foundation. To enter, write a 500-word (max) essay about an African-American scientist, inventor, scholar or educator, and their influence on the state of Florida.
