Circle Studio Players in THE ORPHAN TRAIN

Middle School Arts page will be updated on March 1, 2012 with the NEW class offerings for 2012-13 school year.

Actors Lab: Act 1 (Grades 7-8) 

This class is designed to build skills for the beginner and experienced actor, expand the imagination, build confidence, develop a sensitivity to the processes of creating and working with others, and strengthen the voice and body. A combination of theatre exercises and basic script work will be used.

Circle Studio Players (Grades 7-12)

Circle Studio Players is a two semester production class for all students to gain solid acting techniques through development and participation of their own show to be performed mid to late second semester at the Orlando Repertory Black Box Theatre.  Circle Studio Players is open to all CCS students in 7th to 12th grade.  Extra rehearsals, outside of class time, are required.   (Core, Co-requisite Actors Lab)

Worship Band (Grades 7-8)

This class, offered under Circle’s growing arts program, is designed for students who are called to use their musical gifts to help lead others in worship. Students will have numerous outreach performance opportunities as well provide the music and worship for Circle’s chapel services. Specific objectives for this class will be determined by the student’s skill levels and strengths. Instruction will focus on technical skills, ensemble techniques, music literacy, sight reading and ear training, instrument care and maintenance, responsible participation in music activities, and connections between music and Christian worship. Students must possess their own instruments and meet a novice level of skill and accomplishment.

God’s Hand in Drawing 101 (Grades 7-8)

Beginning students and second year students will develop and fine-tune drawing skills and will expand their creativity as they take composition and design basics. Students will further appreciate art through the ages and through God’s creation as His nature and character are revealed in art. They will experience more hands-on learning about the elements of art and principles of design, and further develop their Biblical worldview through art . “A good man, out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth good things.” (Matthew 12:35). Students will be using charcoal and graphite, pastels, colored pencils, and will also “draw” with various other media including watercolor, acrylics, markers, etc.
