Acting 1/2: Act 2 (Grades 9-12)
First year and second year high school students are introduced to Circle’s sequential high school theatre arts program. Students are introduced to movement and vocal production; pantomime and improvisation; theatre terminology; theatrical forms and influences; script analysis; technical elements; role of the director; artistic discipline; and auditioning and casting. (Core, Co-requisite)
Acting 3/4: Act 2 (Grades 11-12)
High school students build upon the acting, movement and voice skills they have studied in Acting 1/2. This course will enable students to develop intermediate-level acting skills and integrate them into individual and ensemble theatrical performances. Students will delve deeper into acting techniques and character analysis; movement and vocal production; acting styles; pantomime and improvisation; theatre terminology; critique and evaluation; theatrical forms; historical and cultural influences; script analysis and selection; roles and careers; and auditioning, casting, and résumés. (Core, Co-requisite, Pre-requisite Acting 1 and Acting 2)
The purpose of this course is to provide dancers and actors with the elementary skills and methods of acting, mime and movement as needed for stage productions. Content areas include facial expression, stage movement, pantomime, and dance related body therapies.
Circle Studio Pla
yers (Grades 7-12)
Circle Studio Players is a two semester production class for all students to gain solid acting techniques through development and participation of their own show to be performed mid to late second semester at the Orlando Repertory Black Box Theatre. Circle Studio Players is open to all CCS students in 7th to 12th grade. Extra rehearsals, outside of class time, are required. (Core, Co-requisite Acting 1/2 or Acting 3/4)
Creative Photography I (Grades 9-12)
This course includes experience with photographic processes, beginning techniques and compositional skills. Students will use criteria for evaluating process, quality and presentation. Students will consider images, subject matter and styles of major photographers. Prerequisites —Student must have access to a digital camera and a computer with basic photo editing software for the duration of the course.
Drawing and Painting I (Grades 9-12)
The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop basic perceptual, observational, and compositional skills necessary to communicate a range of subject matter, symbols, ideas, and concepts using knowledge of drawing and painting media, processes, and techniques.
Digital Video Production I (Grades 9-12)
The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities for students to gain experience and develop skills in digital video production, through the application field production (single camera) techniques and non-linear editing technology. Prerequisites —Student must have access to a video camera and a computer with basic video editing software for the duration of the course.
Muisc Theory I (Grades 9-12)
The purpose of this course is to teach students the analysis and application of musical fundamentals as practiced in the various historical periods.
Students who successfully complete the four year major track will be eligible to receive an ARTS HONOR DIPLOMA distinguishing them and their time in high school as dedicated to a specific arts discipline. Having successfully completed four years of intensive study in a discipline and receiving an ARTS HONOR DIPLOMA will give the student a stronger advantage as they apply, audition, and compete for placement in universities and conservatories with other seniors graduating from public and private performing arts high schools.More Arts Opportunities
