Created or evolved? What difference does it make? Were we created by God or are we a result of randomness? Adhering to either belief system affects the way one views and lives life. As long as people deny the truth of the Bible and existence of the Creator God, arguments and debates will wage on as they have for centuries. Evolution or Creation? Only one is true. To believe in Creation is to believe one is created with value and purpose and views the world in a life-affirming way.
To begin with, humans are uniquely created by the one, true God. In fact, the Bible clearly states, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27 NKJV). God’s love for His creation is demonstrated here as He intricately created mankind in His own perfect image. This love endlessly flows no matter how far we steer from Him. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Creation as “the act of bringing the world into ordered existence” and Evolution is defined as “the theory that all species developed from earlier life forms”. Evolution implies that an Intelligent Designer does not exist. On the contrary, God does exist and is presently involved in the lives of His creation. He did not just make humanity by chance and then leave it to survive on its own, but instead willingly and lovingly protects and guides each person. God declared, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5 NKJV). Not only does God care about and promise to never forsake us but He will continue to graciously fill our lives with good things. God is invisible, but His actions are undeniably revealed before man. The first chapter of the Book of Romans is replete with evidence of His character. Specifically, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20 NKJV). The evidence is clear, but men continue to deny Creation and its Creator. From the Bible, it is obvious to realize, that we were intentionally created by God and not a result of random cosmic actions.
Especially relevant, meaning and purpose is bestowed upon a person who has the conviction that he or she is created. God made us, so He could love us and that we could, in return, serve, honor, praise, trust, and love Him. In this intimate exchange, the true meaning of life is discovered. This fulfillment cannot be provided by believing in Evolution. Evolutionists lack substantial proof of what life means here on earth or in the after-life. If we are the result of randomness or chance, as they think, then what is the purpose of life? Frankly, there is none. Charles Darwin, known as the Father of Evolution, and other devout evolutionists have promoted a life of emptiness devoid of any Divine purpose, for fear of losing ground and followers of their theory. So, to substantiate his belief, Darwin developed and expounded on the idea of natural selection. From this, he established the term “survival of the fittest”; meaning that the strongest and most physically fit and able would conquer the weaker species and become the dominant and only species. In Darwin’s book, Origin of Species, he further explains, “In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment” (Darwin). According to Darwin, the fittest will “win out” leaving the disabled and helpless to eventually die and become non-existent. His purposeless process is indeed heartless. This is not what we were made for. The God of Creation values all of humanity equally and comforts those who are weaker or less capable than others. He loves and cherishes everyone. This is demonstrated in Genesis 1:31, “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good”. God is pleased with His masterpiece called Creation and His love for us will never cease. This is our purpose for life, to love God and to have a personal relationship with Him.
Furthermore, one’s worldview is greatly impacted by adherence to either belief, Creation or Evolution. Pretend you are an evolutionist, who believes that humans evolved from apes, which evolved from other primates, that descended from the sudden growth of one-celled bacteria (Notgrass). This would mean that you have confidence or accept that we came from random actions. There would be no way to know or have a sense of right and wrong, morality, or the correct way to behave. Now you might argue that animals, such as apes, do have the knowledge of right or wrong. Based on scientific research, this may be true but where does this sense come from? This innate feeling related to behavioral actions comes from God. He created our instincts to know the difference between right and wrong. Until the fall of man in chapter 3 of Genesis, we were perfect and without sin. Although a sinless life cannot humanly exist, we can still live a moral life by following God’s Word, the Bible. Our Divine Lawgiver has given us the gift of an abundant life if we chose to accept Him as Ruler of our lives (John 10:10). He is the Author of our morals, laws, and everything good. Since some have not accepted this fact, they have created the substitutionary theory of Evolution. Then, they can rule their own lives unaccountable to God and make their own laws. Unfortunately, they will find they were wrong when they reach the end of this temporal life.
What difference does it make whether we were created or evolved? It makes a world of difference. Creation affirms human life and Evolution minimizes it. Therefore, the shaping of one’s worldview depends on the value placed on each and every person. God has given us an accurate understanding of Himself and Creation. Whether we accept the truth is life’s defining moment. Evolution is the erroneous perception of God stemming from the suppression of His revealed truth (Romans 1:18). Created or evolved? Resounding evidence points to created. The choice to believe is yours.
