The Good Life
The Good Life inspires thoughts of just taking a moment to refresh, relax, and take a deep breath of fresh air. It also happens to be the theme of the next Art of Healing Gallery at Florida Hospital Altamonte, where our CCS students are invited to participate every quarter. Opening date of exhibit is Thursday April 5, 2012, with refreshments from 6:00-8:00pm. Art submissions for selection will be considered from February 6 to March 12, 2012. This is a juried exhibit and a great way for our students to begin learning about the process involved in displaying their art in the community, building relationships, and serving others through their gifts and talents. It is a wonderful way for our art students to raise money for the arts program as the artwork will be sold at the gallery and a percent of the proceeds go to FL Hospital and the remainder to CCS for the arts program. Art Instructor, Ms. Miller’s paintings are also sold as donations for the arts program, and any other parent artists or artist friends in the community are invited to participate! Let’s build community and raise money for the arts at Circle! Get your creative juices flowing and join us.
All middle school and high school students in Ms. Miller’s art classes will be participating, but if you are not in her class, you are still more than welcome to join the fun! Please submit your artwork to either Volunteer Coordinator Mrs. Karen Stella or Art Instructor Ms. Laura Miller by the dates listed above. Mrs. Stella and Ms. Miller are on the Calvary campus on Tuesdays from 8:30a until 3:30p and on the Metro Campus on Wednesdays from 8:30a until 3:30p. Be sure to include your name, the title of your piece, and your grade on the back. For more information, contact Mrs. Karen Stella or Ms. Laura Miller.
Here are some photos from last quarter’s exhibit which opened on January 12, 2012. Students Christian Pastrana, Lily Pastrana, Lauren Boone, Amber Miller, Rachel Rodriguez, Kelsey Leahy, Beckah Scoville, Jacob Brindle, Rachel Bannister, Amy Bates, and Austin Smith had art on display.

What a wonderful way of integrating art, and the students of art, to community service, the business side of art, and giving! What a blessing for all concerned, even medical staff, patients and their families will be lifted with the creativity as they move down the hospital halls. I’m so proud of you all.
