Samantha Marks Signs With UNC
Congratulations to Lady Centurion Golfer, Samantha Marks, who will be a Tar Heel next fall. Marks, who was heavily recruited by a number of Division 1 schools, made her formal commitment this week. Attending the signing party to celebrate her accomplishments, along with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Marks, are CCS Golf Coaches Scott and Sean Richardson, CCS AD Lisa Tipton, and her swing coach, Jay Kennedy. We look forward to following Samantha’s collegiate career in the very near future. In the meantime, Samantha will complete her Senior year at Circle and continues to play in competitive Jr. Tournaments around the country.
When asked about her decision to attend UNC-Chapel Hill, Samantha remarked, “UNC was the first college I went to visit early this year, and right when I stepped on campus, I knew it would be where I would spend the next four years. It is so beautiful and just the perfect college for me.”
“My favorite thing about golf, other than winning and having a good time, is meeting a ton of different people from all around the world, AND the fact that I keep up with all of them through Facebook and texting and at tournaments! Going to tournaments is fun because you get to hang out with your closest friends, which you don’t get to see but a handful of times a year.”
Samantha finished her high school career as one of the most decorated players in Central Florida with several All County and All Sentinel selections, and appeared in the State Championships 6 different years. She is currently the 12th ranked Senior in the country by Golfweek; and is ranked 13th nationally in the Polo golf rankings.
She will be headed to a team in UNC that is currently ranked 7th nationally in the latest Golfweek rankings at the conclusion of the Fall season. Samantha will be one of two incoming Freshman that will replace two graduating Seniors.
