Story Time
Today, our family celebrated the life of Jim’s mom, who turns 96 tomorrow, and our granddaughter Emily, who turns 8 in a few days. What an incredible time we had looking at the life of a faithful, loving woman and then thinking about the story that is being written in a little girl. One story is nearly finished and is precious beyond measure; the other is in the opening chapters.
I love the idea of our lives telling a story. Each person, young and old, has in them, natural desires, themes, passion and gifts. It is our journey to understanding and unpacking those things that brings life and vigor.
Take time to pay attention to what brings delight to you and your children. What activities are you drawn to and why? What do you find yourself doing and getting lost in? These are all indicators of themes, strengths, and gifts that are YOURS.
There is nothing more energizing than discovering what makes you come alive. What is your purpose? What do you think GOD had in mind when HE created YOU? If there is only one of you, then what is it that YOU are to do? That is the essence of your story. Your life decisions, delights, and relationships all shape the story that will be told by your life.
What would happen in your family if you went on an educational journey that included a strengths and purpose study in your curriculum? In the next few weeks I will be hosting a few parent conversations at Calvary and Metro for the purpose of helping parents look at exciting ways to encourage learning in their children, as well as, the delight of telling exciting life stories.
Stay tuned for the dates and times. I know you will love what you will discover!
