Update from Guatemala
For the last four days son Andrew and I have been in Guatemala with daughter Sarah and her girls. We have been there awaiting the finalization of Kate’s adoption. Andrew and I were able to make the trip because Brian’s schedule did not allow him to travel with his family. He will join them this week. The hope when we departed was that the final paperwork would soon be complete and the family would be returning home with the newest member in a few weeks. Unfortunately, that hope was dashed when we learned shortly after arrival that the process was delayed and Kate will not likely come home until after the first of the year. Everyone was disappointed but we are confident that God’s timing is perfect.
Please pray that God will move the process forward quickly so that our sweet Katelyn will soon be able to come home.
I am still processing the trip to Guatemala but the experience has made several strong impressions. Guatemala is economically poor yet is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The people appear so very sad yet they are surrounded by magnificent scenery. Perspective comes quickly when you make the short trip from a fine hotel to an impoverished village. We are so very blessed to live in our awesome country.
As we approach Thanksgiving and the fast pace of another holiday season, be sure to stop and reflect upon all that we enjoy. I am so glad to be able to brush my teeth without having to look for bottled water to rinse my mouth. So much of what we take for granted is a luxury in most of the world.
May God give us the eyes to see all that we enjoy and grateful hearts to thank Him for His many blessings. May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Have an AWESOME week!
